WRCA  2006 World Champion Finals

This past weekend one of the biggest cowboy events of the year took place at Amarillo TX. The 11th annual Working Ranch Cowboy Association Finals.

The WRCA was formed to help preserve the Real Working Ranch Boy, for teams to qualify for the finals they must first win at one of the WRCA Rodeos held through out the year & for teams to qualify for the privilege to participate they must meet certain guide lines that qualify team as a real working ranch team.

This year the team to qualify were, the Thompson Ranch, Bradley Ranch, Sooner J & Bricker Livestock, Hatchet Ranch, Arndt Ranch & Collinge Ranch, C Lazy B Ranch & Beachner Brothers Livestock, Masterson Ranch, Milliron L & Clark Cattle Co., Monroe & Timberlake Ranch & Aztx Cattle Co., Sandhill & Black Cattle Co., Tukey Track & Martin Ranches, Yolo Ranch & Ute Lake Ranch, Buck Creek Ranch & Scribner Ranch,

Flying M & Eden Valley Ranches, D & M Cattle Co., Wachob Ranches & TC Outfit, Timberlake & Broken Spear Ranches, LeMejor Livestock Co & Mayo Ranches, H Drummond Land & Cattle Co, A Bar Ranches, Rainbow Ranch,  & Bradley J3 Ranch.

Over 100 cowboys came together to compete in the events, which include, Ranch Bronc Riding, Team Penning, Team Doctoring, Wild Cow Milking, & Team Branding. I can honestly tell you will never see such a great display of good sportsmanship as you do at this event.  Fun & a great time is had by all. The Rodeo consist of 4 go arounds with average winners & an

 over all winner.

These four days also include many exciting events, such as the trade show ( which is great), cowboy art shows, poetry & singing, an auction for the WRCA Crisis & scholarship fund, a Working Ranch Horse Show which has 4 divisions, Pokey’s JRRWC for the little cow pokes, & Working Ranch Horse Clinics &  a new exciting event which was added last year, Open Ranch Bronc Riding. There is never a dull moment & it is surrounded by great western hostility.
