Location: New Mexico | All of the stars aligned and I was able to get a 2nd ride on my new little mare, today! Yippee!!! She did really well. (It didn't rain and the baby took a nap!)
Last week, when I got on her, she didn't have a clue. She'd been saddled and ridden, but she wouldn't even direct rein or move out. A local trainer/farrier came by and messed with her for about a half an hour and Gave me a few pointers/refreshers. I've worked her on the ground a few times since, but today was the first time I got a saddle on her and got on!
We worked a few circles then went for a couple of "laps" around our pawn lot. She did really well. Stood for me to get on and stood and waited when we stopped. She was really flexible and just plain nice. :)
So proud of us! LOL

Location: New Mexico | I do, too!
I mouthed her a little better and I think she's closer to 5-6 than 7-8. She's got all of her mature teeth, but she's still got cups. That should make her 5. I like the idea of her bein' 5 with her knowledge or lack-of vs. 7 with the same knowledge/lack-of.
Oh, and she is LITTLE! I put a tape on her and there's a whopping 14 hands of her! 14.1 if I stretch it a li'l. LOL
